My client wanted to create a driveway while transforming the front garden into a haven for wildlife. Having already chosen reclaimed sleepers and gravel for the drive, my role was to unify the space with planting and habitats that would encourage biodiversity.

The original bricks and coping stones, along with reclaimed materials from the back garden, were repurposed to create pathways and stepping stones. A small wildlife pond and mixed native hedge were added to increase habitat value.

Grasses and airy perennials soften the space, while a crab apple tree provides seasonal interest and food for birds. Self-seeding plants are encouraged to fill the gaps naturally, creating a relaxed, evolving garden where butterflies, bees and other wildlife have already made themselves at home.
